Kids Against Hunger Brainerd Lakes started in 2012. The charity rebranded in November 2019, with a new name and mission. Their mission during COVID-19 has 100% of their food being distributed within a 60-mile radius of Brainerd. The organization packed 554,688 meals between January 1 and June 16, 2020; 61,344 of those meals were packed prior to COVID-19. The initial demand for food was 37,000 meals a week (March – May). For June-August, the forecast is about 25,000 meals a week, costing roughly $7,500 a week to keep up with that demand.
